Me. Not the person they believe to be a dragon though.

goes to a trans meta sub about rule enforcement, breaks said rule immediately, gets banned. seems about right? like do you want people to enforce rules or not? I though this sub was about people who are doing whatever they want regardless of the rules, not for enforcing said rules.
Most people would not have taken “Dragons aren’t real” to be against the rules, but here we are, apparently.
I don’t go to 196 I don’t know their rules

196 is just a community hosted on Blahaj, it’s rule is “post something before you leave” which is why all the posts on it have “rule” in the title.

The “drama” comes from the Blahaj.zone instance

ahh so 196 is a blahaj zone community then? then is has to follow general blahaj zone rules right?
Yes, however bans in question were handed out by instance admins iirc
then I don’t get what the problem is, the admins make the rules for their instance, communities in those instances follow those rules, if not they can move to other instances, see the star trek communities for examples. the admins are making a hard stance on this issue and have the right to enforce the rules they state they will enforce.
Just like people have a right to come to this community and say they think it’s a silly rule. We all are within our rights, hooray.
so if we are all within our rights then the admins were justified with their bans , I’m glad you agree.
“Within their rights” and “justified” are not the same thing.
so somebody who has right is not justified when exercising those rights? like whats your point here? the admins make the rules, they say they will enforce the rules, its entirely within their rights to do it, and people get upset when they do it? if you dont like it then go somewhere else, theres other trans spaces on lemmy, try beehaw, or make your own. i swear your all acting like children who dont want to get told no, nobody is making you interact with these people or this space, your choosing to do so, why does it matter so much to you?

so somebody who has right is not justified when exercising those rights?

Yeah, like how one has a right to freedom of speech, but that doesn’t make it right to spread rumors.

nobody is making you interact with these people or this space, your choosing to do so, why does it matter so much to you?

Like, this is literally the triggering event that caused me to leave Blahaj, that’s exactly what I’m doing. I don’t know why complaining about something that I feel is absurd is such a deep offense to you.

you don’t have the right to do something intentionally malicious, and spreading rumours is malicious.

and if your leaving then why spend time getting upset over it taking to people like me? send like a waste of time to me.

you don’t have the right to do something intentionally malicious, and spreading rumours is malicious.

Not everyone sees spreading rumors as malicious. In any case, surely you see the point that ‘rights’ as in ‘what someone is allowed to do’ and ‘right’ as in ‘what is just, moral, or upstanding’ are not synonymous now.

and if your leaving then why spend time getting upset over it taking to people like me? send like a waste of time to me.

I’m bitching about it on a comm for bitching about moderators. I didn’t think this was complex, but apparently, that’s too much to parse.

People question the validity of those rules, to my understanding that’s where the drama begun. There’s an individual who refers to themselves with other pronouns than “I” (ex. they don’t say “I went elsewhere” but “word went elsewhere”) and people think it’s a troll.
neopronouns have been a issue of discussion for a long time on blahaj zone. multiple people have been caused discussions over the history of the instance, many discussions exactly like the earlier one. the admin said themselves that the recent post was not spurred by any incidents or individuals in particular, and the instance has always moderated in this way, long before this incident. it has repeatedly been stated that neopronouns are the norm, accepted, and protected on blahaj zone. most of the people who are complaining are not from blahaj zone anyways.

the admin said themselves that the recent post was not spurred by any incidents or individuals in particular,

I’ve been waiting until after Christmas day to make this post, but some of our communities recently have had a lot of noise and upset over someone that uses neopronouns that most people are unfamiliar with.

you know exactly what they meant by that. “dragons aren’t real” means “i have read the post and intend to break the rules communicated therein by the site admin, rather than doing the infinitely easier and more respectful task that is blocking the user.” just like every other user getting banned in that thread.
Didn’t realize you were such a fan of admins both denying objective reality and removing criticism of their announcements.

aw man hate to say this to you of all people, but straw man? holy shit. :(

i clearly stated that the “dragon’s aren’t real” comment was veiled language for “i don’t intend to follow the rules.” context matters and in this context, it’s absurd to argue that user was just super passionate about mythic creatures, but that’s what you’re doing here.

So tell me, is there any statement now that could be made that isn’t, in your view, just “I don’t intend to follow the rules” instead of “Dragons aren’t real, and we shouldn’t be pretending otherwise”?

yes!

“i don’t personally agree with the position the admins take on this divisive user, however i will respect the rules as layed out by Ada in this post.”

or if you want to be less formal:

“this user still concerns me, but i recognize that this is not my community and so i will abide by the rules while visiting here.”

or further still:

“bit concerned/confused by all this but noted. 👍“

“i don’t personally agree with the position the admins take on this divisive user, however i will respect the rules as layed out by Ada in this post.”

But there were removals even for people who noted that they would use requested neopronouns.

“this user still concerns me, but i recognize that this is not my community and so i will abide by the rules while visiting here.”

“bit concerned/confused by all this but noted. 👍“

Neither of those assert that dragons aren’t real.
