Throughout last week Yemen missiles rained down on military targets in Tel Aviv.
In response Israel bombed civilian targets in Sanaa Yemen. Targeting power stations an the port.
When this still did not stop the strikes on Tel Aviv the US launched airstrikes on Yemen resulting in the accidental friendly fire shoot down of two Navy airmen and their F/A-18 Super Hornet.

In their full remarks Yemen forces actually take credit for directly shooting down the US fighter jet. They say Yemen forces waited for the US to begin attacking them from a carrier group. The Yemen military then targeted the US fighter jets and their waiting aircraft carrier group with waves of drones and missiles.
So anyways a pair of US fighter pilots got shot down fighting Yemen, a country we're not technically at war with.
You'd think that would make some sort of news. What's the US' goal here?

The U.S. military says two U.S. Navy pilots have been shot down over the Red Sea in an apparent “friendly fire” incident. Both pilots were recovered alive, with one suffering minor injuries in the incident on Sunday. The incident came as the U.S. military conducted airstrikes targeting Yemen’s Houthi rebels, though the U.S. military’s Central Command did not elaborate on what their mission was at the time. “The guided missile cruiser USS Gettysburg, which is part of the USS Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group, mistakenly fired on and hit the F/A-18, which was flying off the USS Harry S. Truman,” Central Command said in a statement.
As I was writing this thread Yemen fired off more missiles at Tel Aviv. Sure seems like all the US, British and Israeli airstrikes on Yemen this passed weekend really deterred them. 🫠

Another night, another flight of missiles from Yemen. The Yemenis say they'll keep shooting missiles at Israel's occupation army until the genocide in Gaza ends. They promise to continue escalating their approach with confronting Israel directly in addition to continuing the extremely effective blocking of Red Sea shipping lanes.
Yemen recently had their third or forth brush with a US carrier group and seem undeterred.

My guess is it's just a fuckup. Every navy's history is a cavalcade of bizarre self-inflicted disasters, and the Americans are no different.

We continue to let KSA use our airforce to bomb the Yemenis who dont want to be a colony of KSA and their brutal interpretation of Islam. The media just doesn't report on it anymore.
@nullagent If they made the americans so nervous they started shooting at everything and hit their own plane I that doesn't FORMALLY count as a kill but for all practical purposes whoever controlled those drones can paint a tiny US flag on their drone control station. Four more makes them an unofficial ace. Might be one pilot per drone and thus shared credit.
For fighter pilots and now drone pilots, enemy lives DO matter, they're how you keep score! Traditionally this can be a very serious matter to the point of being one reason for gun cameras on warplanes.
