Exhibit 1 million why AVs aren't as smart as big corporations want us to think they are.

Earlier today a waymo stuck got stuck in freshly poured concrete by laguna honda.

The gap where the waymo drove right between 2 delineators can be seen here.

Waymo is still under continuous investigation from multiple local state and federal agencies for violating traffic laws.

Cases like this show how car dominance isn't the solution, only equitable and safe walking, biking, and transit will be.

@SafeStreetRebel Leave it there. Lest we forget.
@SafeStreetRebel @jef damn. Wish I had been a passenger. 💰💰💵💵

@SafeStreetRebel “If you no longer go for a gap which exists you are no longer a racing driver” — Ayrton Senna

It is no longer a racing driver. 🤣🤣

@SafeStreetRebel The other day, waymo was waiting at a light, while a muni bus was waiting in the opposite direction. I was riding my bike alongside muni. The waymo tried to beat muni when the light changed by taking a fast left turn. It then saw me and stopped, setting itself up for nearly getting t-boned by muni. If a human had done that, I would have thought the driver was an idiot, but that sort of aggressive driving is a new feature in my experience with robot cars.

More untested error paths in the coding ...

@SafeStreetRebel

emulated a Porsche driver, I believe. Cars 🙄

@SafeStreetRebel
With 2 more we could have a very fine art installation.
@SafeStreetRebel There’s something poetic about a needlessly high-tech “intelligence” getting stopped by a material that has been used for thousands of years.
@SafeStreetRebel Instead, the way they'll fix this probably is to make extra signs which such cars can detect.
