Y'know what, #RyanWalters? You've changed my mind. I'm no longer against bringing the Bible into #Oklahoma schools. Bring it in, please. Teach from it. Have students read it.

All of it.

ALL. OF. IT.

Read & discuss:

•God's acceptance of child sacrifice in Judges 11
•the Levite who pushes his daughter outside to be gang-raped in Judges 19-20
•the mandated misogyny & murder in the 613 laws in Deuteronomy & Leviticus
•God's mandates for murder & slavery in Ezekiel 5, Jeremiah 19...

1/

...Exodus 21, Leviticus 25, Numbers 25 & 31, 1. Samuel 15, 2. Kings 2, Psalm 137 (have kids write a hymn based on that one!)
•discuss the minutiae of Song of Songs
•Judah sleeping with his d-i-l because he thought she was a prostitute, then trying to murder her Genesis 38
•Job as God's betting stakes
•God's mass murder of children in Exodus
•Paul's misogyny all over the "New" Testament
•slavery in Philemon
•inclusivity via Jesus vs. exclusivity via Paul

I've still got 12 Bibles at home, Ryan.
3 German translations.
4 English translations.
And two "New Testaments," one of which is in Greek.

So bring it on. My kid is gonna have ALL the facts and challenging questions for your Bible teachers.

@courtcan Lots of polygamy too. And they won't like it when Jesus says stuff like "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone," or "Go and sin no more," or "the meek shall inherit the Earth." Or that the parable of the good Samaritan is about putting aside cultural and religious differences and helping those in need whomever they are.
@courtcan
Don’t forget my favorite, sending a bear to kill little kids for mocking some dude’s bald head.
