King of the morons. Blazingly stupid.

Trump actually said, during the press conference - “The United States and Italy are bound together by a shared cultural and political heritage dating back thousands of years, to ancient Rome."

@Savvyhomestead

And to his minions who believe humans and dinosaurs were contemporaries, this makes perfect sense.

@Savvyhomestead

Sane washing would be like: President Trump mentions both Italy and the United States share common republican ideals which date back to ancient Rome.

@Lily_and_frog @Savvyhomestead Four more years of scrambling to make sense out of stupidity.

@Lily_and_frog

The photo was for humor. The quote and link were there for clarification.

Did Trump Say Revolutionary War Troops Took Over Airports?

The U.S. president blamed a teleprompter for the flub during his Fourth of July address in 2019.

@Savvyhomestead

There's no doubt he is really stupid.

But the media love to do "sane washing" and paraphrase what he says into something less unhinged. It's fairly easy since there so little meaning in his words that anyone can see anything they want!

@Savvyhomestead not surprising the draft-dodger forgot about WW2

@Savvyhomestead

You know somebody just (and I mean fifteen minutes before) told him that the style of our government buildings was from Rome and that... That's how he got here, right?

@Savvyhomestead The expression on her face is priceless!

@aburtch

Although the caption was not totally correct, she was there and probably understood the flow of his babbling very well. That is why I included the actual quote and Snopes link.

Lots of sane-washing going on. Still waiting for those folks to explain this away too:

@Savvyhomestead that moment when the united states suddenly existed for more than 248 years and has shared culture with something that hasn't existed for 1548 years
@Savvyhomestead he's as stupid as the people who keep voting for him. America deserves what's coming.....shithole country that it is.

@Savvyhomestead

I wonder which Emperor he thinks he is? Caligula?

@Savvyhomestead He's right though. America and its politics and culture were fed in large part by Rome, as with most western states, including Italy obv.

If it were anyone else I doubt we'd be seeing this misunderstanding so much.

The fact he may have shit his pants on an international stage is much more funny. This is just kinda dumb.

@Savvyhomestead

This kind of thing demonstrates how we can reliably surmise that Trump supporters are narcissists.

Their internal logic goes something like; He's stupid and ignorant like them, and they believe that they're always right in what they believe so it follows that Donald Trump must be correct about everything too. If he wasn't then they couldn't have voted for him, since they're always right.

This is how they're able to overlook this kind of dumb shit.

Donnie knows as much about politics as he does history.

@Savvyhomestead

@Savvyhomestead This is misinformation. Please promptly take it down. https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/trump-italy-allies/
Trump Falsely Accused of Claiming US and Italy Have Been Allies 'Since the Time of Ancient Rome'

The claim originated from a speech Trump gave during a joint press conference with Italian President Sergio Mattarella in 2019.

@Savvyhomestead That's still up and you're still posting, so that earns a block as a misinformation spreader.
Did Ancient Romans Reach The Americas Long Before Columbus? - Ancient Pages

Did ancient Romans cross the ocean and reach the shores of America long before Christopher Columbus? Why is North and South America depicted on ancient Roman maps? Why have so many ancient Roman artifacts been found in America?

Ancient Pages

@Savvyhomestead

Well he is right though… it’s the mob, the cosa nostra…

@Savvyhomestead

This is a distortion of what he said, done to embarrass him. But it is not true as a simple fact check will show. Trump does enough vile and stupid things that we don't need false ones.

Don't become Trump to fight Trump.

The graphic was satire. It was NOT a distortion - Trump actually said, during the press conference - “The United States and Italy are bound together by a shared cultural and political heritage dating back thousands of years, to ancient Rome."

The phrase “dating back thousands of years” caused many commentators to misunderstand President Donald Trump’s remarks.
