This just in, KDE has broken 90k
@BrodieOnLinux this is also just PayPal!
@BrodieOnLinux That's great for KDE, of course! But I wonder how many people donated money thinking that they won't see that popup ever again.
@dirk It doesn't say that anywhere on the prompt, if anyone assumes that they didn't read it
@BrodieOnLinux very nice! What's driving the big increase ?

@vladimirchicken @BrodieOnLinux KDE started a Christmas fundraiser: https://kde.org/en/fundraisers/yearend2024/
They also had a one-off donation suggestion notification in Plasma 6: https://pointieststick.com/2024/12/02/i-think-the-donation-notification-works/

(so they can become more independent, continue even more FOSS development efforts, welcome new projects, etc.)

KDE Community
@BrodieOnLinux
Looks like it ought to pass the 100K by 31st.
Also imagine if ordinary tech stores would sell KDE/Plasma based laptops with even a modest donation included in the sale price.
@BrodieOnLinux they seem to also be using it to vent frustrations lmao.
@CQL I can't speak for the KDE devs but if somebody wants to pay me 50€ to send me a bitchy comment be my guest

@BrodieOnLinux almost 99k anyway

Edit: nvm 500 bucks are missing for 100k
