Current reading, part of the #GatherFiberSymposium events (for next April) is a book talk at the Attleboro Arts Museum.
I don't know if I'll get to the discussion, but I wanted to see the book anyway. Glad I did!

I read this one & "The Fabric of Civilization: How Textiles Made the World" by Virginia Postrel at around the same time. They complement each other quite well.
@asmaloney I went straight to lace, but I'm really impressed with the deft summary of lace history that she covered in a short amount of space.
Also has references I need for Wikipedia.
I'll read the rest too, but I started with lace because....addicted.
