i love how ominous soft muting a word is on sharkey
@puppygirlhornypost2 soft mutes are pretty useless for me since they don't actually tell you what it's muting. the "something is being muted" thing is even more enticing to click than a cw is
@maebubsy i only have one word mute so i know what i am muting but yeah point still stands it's uh not the best

@puppygirlhornypost2 @maebubsy opinions on this idea?

saying "so-and-so made a post which contained [filter items]" and blurs the filter-items out, and unblurs them if you deliberately move the mouse over the blurred text

@dakkar @[email protected] i prefer the older idea of having the filter do a content warning you have to open.
@dakkar @[email protected] Like this, because I think this is a very reasonable approach to give what the note was flagged for. Perhaps it needs some adjustment so that it's not exactly the same as a content warning. I still want it to have roughly the same mechanism of "Matched $PATTERN" so that people can be aware of what was flagged. I know people with multiple soft word mutes who play a game of russian roulette
@dakkar @[email protected] But hm, maybe if we blurred the match? As in "X has been hidden due to a match on /\bmeta\b/gmi"?
@dakkar @[email protected] (I just realized that mfm might actually be a reasonable way to prototype this one sec)
@puppygirlhornypost2 @maebubsy yes, that is exactly what I asked about!
@dakkar @[email protected] to be fair i am sick and i haven't had much sleep :P
@dakkar @[email protected] but yes. I think that approach would work. I prefer the content warnings over what we currently have because I don't see that as accessible (tiny area to click on, compared to a button).
@dakkar @[email protected] So because I remember on reddit when people would do something like .

why would you click this

@dakkar @[email protected] URL preview strikes again
@puppygirlhornypost2 @maebubsy ?[label](url) is your f(r)iend
@dakkar but you get my point on this from an accessibility standpoint right?
@puppygirlhornypost2 ok, sure.
an argument that has been put forward is "I don't want to see the word(s) unless I ask for it", because triggers
@maebubsy
@puppygirlhornypost2 @maebubsy I was mainly referring to the question of "how do I know which word(s) triggered the mute?"
I'm not sure how "a thing you open" helps with that
