My vision* for the future of #scholcomm is a collection of public #git repos – both for metadata and for the actual contents.

This would allow for decentralized contribution and transparent tracking. Then institutions like universities could host there own forks of these repos and information is exchanged via merge-requests. Of course there needs to be some tooling to get a nice ux.

* Admittedly this vision is still somewhat blurry, but ...

... I really would love a system where every scientist could contribute their tiny share to THE world knowledge repo (e.g. as #micropublication). And others could find that information easily and reference it in a neutral, supportive or critical way. And the current state of scientific controversies would be transparent and not scattered over dozens of journals, proceedings, blog posts etc.
