I've updated a Sound Blaster 16 CT2740 from DSP v4.12 to v4.17 which corrects the hanging note bug when using the MPU401 interface or Wave Blaster header. It's pretty easy to do; unsolder the DSP, install a socket, program an 89S52 from Mouser or Digikey and pop it in.
