With #postgresql in #docker, when I exec into it to do a #pg_dumpall, it doesn't really seem efficient.

I mean, just to get a few gigabytes from a running container, does it really need to take 4 *additional* CPUs, dwarfing everything that's actually needed to do the backup? Is this what we have taken to accept as the pinnacle of operating system design?

@ltning I actually have a theory (in the process of being written up for some time) that adding layers of indirection is what seems to be behind humanity's progress, and not even necessarily in the technological aspect.
