If the idea of a iPhone Animal Crossing game without in app nickel and diming appeals to you, you pay up front instead, keep in mind you still have to link to a Nintendo account. (Wrong! A Review claimed this!)

I have several supposedly entertaining Nintendo iPhone apps I never touch because of the Nintendo Account hurdle.

Perhaps it’s as easy as Sign in with Apple? I might then.

I have never used possible online features of any Nintendo games.

@Chancerubbage You're missing out. It's not too bad at all. I'm also not 100% sure you need a Nintendo Account...you might only need it to transfer save data.

@ChrisFerguson I think you are correct as I just opened the app. No Nintendo Account Gauntlet.

A recent review of the newest version I just read said a Nintendo Account was still necessary. It isn’t.

@Chancerubbage Glad to hear it! I know it's required to transfer save data, but not start fresh. Also no internet connection is required to play at all (the old game required a constant connection).

@ChrisFerguson if there were multiplayer aspects, inviting real life friends, maybe that is an aspect of the pocket versions? I think Nintendo ‘online stores’ started with the wi. I’ve never used internet with Wii or switch.

Perhaps iOS GameCenter allows some real time interactivity with some apps ? I think of it asynchronous leader board stuff for iOS games I play. Would never bug IRL friends to ‘play’
