Browsing Steam to find a good VR coop game to play with a friend & find “Star Trek: Bridge Crew”. “Ooo, neat!” I think. “We both love Trek, maybe this would work!”

Demo opens with two friends putting on their VR goggles and one says to the other, “Ok, first we gotta decide who’s gonna be captain.”

Boom. That’s it, don’t have to hear anymore, that’s gonna be a dealbreaker, right from the start. 🤣

(I don’t need to be captain. But friend does and, after decades, I’m kind of done with that.😔)

@MythingPerson My first set of VR glasses arrive soon. I don't need to be captain.

@SteveInIT Hah! That, then, is your strongest qualification!

In truth, I know nothing about the game, since I bailed on the trailer. But I’d certainly be up for *something*, once you get the glasses. Let us pursue this thought. 😁👍

@MythingPerson I backed a Kickstarter project "Rokid AR light" mostly to watch movies while traveling. It looks like I would need a steam deck to game with you as described?

@SteveInIT Not a Steam Deck, just the Steam application on your PC. Steam is primarily a free software platform for buying and playing games, the biggest such platform out there. It has a lot of functions that also support group play, like connecting with friends and using those friend lists in multi player games.

The Steam Deck is something they made later, and isn’t needed for what we’d be doing.

@SteveInIT I’ve been browsing their website, and I’m not sure this is actually VR — as in, supporting 3D gaming. It looks to me like it will take a computer or console 2D screen and display it in front of you, but it’s still 2D.

I mean, it looks totally cool, and great for the purpose you bought it for. But, unless I’m reading this wrong, it’s not for VR gaming.

@SteveInIT That said, I’m game to 2D game, if that’s something you’re into. :-)
