Cold weather tips for ebike makers:
#1) the computer knows the battery temperature.. Display it!
Don't tell me to quit riding when the battery reaches -10C, then give me zero way to know when that is!
#2) the BMS knows what temp the battery is. If it is -15C and I plug it in to charge, either WAIT.. or better yet, heat the battery with 5W and charge when warm.
What other safety certified appliance will catch fire if you can't guess its internal temp ?
@NNN @mclean.bsky.social I own a dozen different kinds of batteries. Every single one of them will (correctly) refuse to charge when the battery is too cold. Most of them will automatically start charging once it's warm enough, though some cheaper ones require you to unplug the battery and plug it back in to start charging.
Basically, any BMS on any bike I've bought in the past 3 years does exactly what you say here.
