It was quite obvious to anyone paying attention ten years ago that Google’s behavior in search and ads was blatantly anticompetitive. It took over a decade for regulators to catch up.

It’s also been quite obvious for years that Apple is similarly blatant with their anticompetitive behavior. Eventually the wheels of justice will catch up with them as well.

@carnage4life I understand Google being protective and aggressive with ads. It’s their whole business.

The stuff Apple is anticompetitive about is just… petty. They aren’t protecting anything vital, they are penny pinching. It boggles the mind that they don’t have enough foresight in this.

@carnage4life

I wish they would do something other than break apart technologies that are made to work together though. It seems like regulators could change laws and polices that would foster competition without the need to break things. Making Google and Apple allow other app store competitors is a good example. Making it illegal for Google to pay to make its search the starting default on products is another.

@quasar @carnage4life those are both very good ideas, and I agree the laws need to be such that they change the game.
Bit i still think breaking them up is a good idea too.
But changing the regulations so that the end result is changed, yes that should be priority.

@carnage4life

I've always heard it said that "governments and bureaucracy move slowly, and that's a good thing".

But I wish the enforcement of regulations and laws regarding corporations moved as swiftly as it does for the lowly (poor) individual.
