basic hashtags are still good 2 use as they will categorize ur content!!
for bsky users who DO NOT wish 2 see NSFW content, they can simply mute the hashtag.
↳ this is especially helpful 4 creators who make both NSFW + SFW content
↳ ur fans can follow u + mute #NSFW 2 only see ur SFW content!
if ur a smaller creator on BSKY, niche hashtags work great.
⟢ niche hashtags push ur content 2 potential fans!
ex:
#bushsky
#skeetafterdark (poc creators only)
#nsfwmen (cis male creators)
OR create ur own:
↳ describe ur aesthetic || #alt • #gymbrat
↳ think kink! || #petplay • #monsterfucker
not sure where 2 start?
long press any hashtag! this brings up the option to:
↳ see all posts w that # (can also do this by searching any #)
↳ see all posts by that creator using that #
↳ mute all posts using that #
either of the first 2 options can help u discover new # that fit ur content!
find creators w similar niches 2 discover # they use!
once u discover # check how they perform
↳ are there a lot of recent posts?
↳ are the top posts doing well?
use these criteria 2 narrow down the # /post
⟢ u WILL NOT be shadowbanned for using #, but i personally limit how many i use 4 aesthetic
speaking of aesthetics,
if u hate how # look but want 2 use them on ur posts, u can!
utilize third-party apps built on bsky's API 2 access features not currently available on bsky's app!
↳ ex: on deck.blue u can post media w hidden #
BEWARE: u will not currently show up in feeds using hidden #
(unrelated pro-tip: deck blue is also how i hyperlinked @bsky.app’s community showcase of third party apps in the above twt 😉)

↳ sorts u into the correct FEEDS
custom feeds created by other users often use:

or a combination 2 determine what 2 pull!

long press that hashtag on one of their posts + click “search user’s posts with tag”
