Looking to upgrade my home network with some pro or semi-pro gear! Need reliable hardware for full-speed gigabit internet, stable Wi-Fi (5 or 6) in multiple rooms, and minimal bottlenecks for heavy usage.

Any recommendations for routers, access points, or switches that have served you well? #networking #homelab

@kakkoyun Using Ubiquity UniFi gear for switches and access points is what I and many other networking nerds I know have ended up doing.
@kakkoyun I’m running UniFi for Router and APs but their bigger switches seemed poor vs their price. So I picked up a refurb (official) Cisco CBS220-24P-4X (24 port POE and 4 10Gb SFP+ ports). So I’m really happy with that switch.
@seanhood UniFi for the win! Thanks a lot for sharing.

@kakkoyun

Router #pfSense CE on 4c 2ghz 16gb ram, 128gb M.2, 4x 2.5gbit nics.

2x roaming #Unifi #Wifi 5 UAP-AC-Pro's with WPA(2/3)-EAP and #Freeradius / MariaDB backend (users, groups and dynamic vlans).

3x USW-Flex north, south part of my house and workbench. #EdgeSwitch 24 250W in the middle as my main switch.

Unifi controller in #Proxmox LXC ct.

2 port LAGs between router and main switch and between main switch and Proxmox server.

Wired network speed = full 1gbps and wifi ~ 550 mbps.

@GuidoKostons Wow, this is way pro setup that I could ever imagine having. Awesomeness. Thanks for sharing.

@kakkoyun I'm running UniFi gear as well.

My collection is:
Routing: UniFi Cloud Gateway Ultra
Switching: UniFi Switch 8 PoE, UniFi Switch 24
WiFi: UniFi AC Pro, U6 In-Wall

I'm happy with my setup. I'm running a small homelab and have multiple VLANs and it handles it all just fine.

@mistersnuggles UniFi for the win! Thanks a lot for sharing.
