How do people here feel about Bluesky? I am currently posting to both - largely because I am curious.

Bluesky didn't make 2 key mistakes that Mastodon makes

1. Bluesky web interface is very polished. Mastodon is still clunkly, after all those years.

2. The discovery feed in Bluesky is great - something that Mastodon has never really done, which severely hamper its attractiveness.

My sense is that at the current rate, Bluesky will be what Mastodon could have been.

Thoughts?

@marcelsalathe I found my favorite reader to be https://phanpy.social - it even solves the "Cory Doctorow" problem with loooong threads.

Also, my discovery are the boosts of other people :)

And don't you leave mastodon, now that epfl might finally start up it's instance!

Minimalistic opinionated Mastodon web client

@ineiti I have no intention. But it is sad to see that Mastodon is not picking up to good stuff, and I'm worried that with so many scientists rushing to Bluesky, the window of opportunity has closed for another ten years (unless Bluesky fully embraces federation)

@marcelsalathe I read of some people doing the cross posting thingie: on Bluesky to reach out to many people, and mastodon for the cosy fireplace feeling :)

For me it's comfortable here - I found my echo chamber, including some nice weirdos. Wouldn't want to change it.

But if you want to have a big reach, Mastodon is definitely not the right place. And I guess it will never be. Not enough money to push it.
