The FT991a is a nice broadcast receiver.
..an expensive one, mind you, but it does it well.

@MM0INH I sold half my possessions, mortgaged the cats and bought an FTDX101MP a week or so ago. I haven't been able to get to the other QTH yet in order to set it up and plug it into an actual antenna, but in our apartment with a bit of wire in the antenna socket it picks up China Radio International absolutely beautifully.
@m China International is the broadcast version of S51DX for antenna testing.
🤣

@MM0INH Don't forget the nice Ukrainian and Russian gentlemen shouting at each other 24 hours a day on 7050!

When I were a lad there was a local amateur (distinctly well off and had basically All The Gear) who was so omnipresent on the bands he became known as Radio Moscow.

@m Thankfully the worst, or actually the best, were two old women, pensioners, who really got into CB somehow. Tranny Granny ( a name not well aged!) and Big Ears.
Well known across the area talking old lady nonsense.
I would have been 12yo and they would let me break-break.
About 1983.
@MM0INH Old lady nonsense sounds fine compared with the other stuff that cropped up on CB, like creepy guys talking about their dicks who probably went on to become well-respected members of their local dogging community a decade or two later.

@m Well, if everyone consents!

....and they clean up after themselves.
Mucky pups.
