We're not going to terraform Mars, but we're doing a good job of venusforming Earth.
@petergleick
Love is in the air!
@vincentius
It's easy to confuse, but that would be carbon dioxide and sulfuric acid, not love.
@petergleick

@petergleick

Use jets while you still can.

Limited time offer!

@petergleick Man's greed is out of control.
@gumpfloyd Do you have a license to use that ego sir?
@daniellatz 🤣There is no ego here you may want to look upward.I only speak out observation.
@gumpfloyd I thought as Mr Musk was the subject of the post it would appear to be him I was addressing
@daniellatz Got it my bad one can never know these days.

@petergleick

We already terraformed Mars:

Mars has no liquid water on it because we used to live there and messed up the climate there first so badly that we had to send an ark to Earth with Adam and Eve in it and that ark was the asteroid that wiped out the dinosaurs.

End of history lesson.

@petergleick "Venusforming". Omfg 🤣
@petergleick Maybe the lessons we learn in recovering terran landscapes will found the basis for terraforming anywhere else. A number of industries are working out methods of decarbonizing. No 100% solution was ever going to work. What WILL is enough 2% 3% & 5% solutions to cumulatively carry us past the finish line. Maybe what's really not helpful is bullshit doomerism & unworkable expectations.
@petergleick pfff off-by-one error, happens to everybody
@petergleick we all need spacesuits for a grocery run!
@petergleick we bringing acid rain back eh?
@petergleick We can make it pretty uncomfortable, but even if we burned every gram of extant fossil fuel there's not enough for that.
@petergleick We can't live on Mars because it has no magnetosphere, which is a thing that is required for carbon-based life. Any thoughts we might ever live there en masse are delusional.
