Merrick Garland wanted to avoid politics and protect the DOJ as an institution.

Thanks to his actions, or lack thereof, in one fell swoop, he has set the course to destroy the DOJ as an institution, make a mockery of what's left of the rule of law, and change politics as we have known it.

Ignominy.

The irony is, which goes right over Garland’s head, is that his decision for inaction because he didn’t want to appear political, was a political decision.

@Wileymiller @WarnerCrocker It's the Dem theme of the last four decades. Every accommodation, capitulation, delay, or failure to confront bad faith extremist actors has only emboldened them. Hell yeah it's all been political.
