It's not us. It's them.

Private jet flights have soared in recent years, with the resulting climate-heating emissions rising by 50 percent, a comprehensive global analysis has revealed.

The assessment tracked more than 25,000 private jets and almost 19 million flights between 2019 and 2023. It found almost half the jets traveled less than 500 kilometers (311 miles) and 900,000 were used “like taxis” for trips of less than 50 kilometers (31 miles).

Private flights, used by just 0.003 percent of the world’s population, are the most polluting form of transport. The researchers found that passengers in larger private jets caused more CO2 emissions in an hour than the average person did in a year.

‘Used like taxis’: Soaring private jet flights drive up climate-heating emissions

An analysis of 19 million flights between 2019 and 2023 reveals a 50 percent rise in emissions.

@breadandcircuses it is ridiculous... They don't care about anything, and politicians won't do anything against them (I guess that one France did something for that). But, as I'm always saying, we also play an important role as individuals. If we reduce our emissions, buy products from responsible brands (like Patagonia, Picture, @fairphone ...) instead of products from AliExpress and brands that don't care about human rights and global warming... If we do that, we are improving our world. And yes, one of us is nothing, but if we, all of us, small individuals, do that... Damm, we would change the world

@breadandcircuses the ship transports for all the gods we use ain't that environment friendly either and they are seldom included in countries pollution calculations as they are mostly on international waters.

Sure that don't excuse the private flights at all, but selecting things produced locally can ship in towards saving the environment.

@breadandcircuses Duuuuuh. They do this shit and we're suppose to drop the avocado on toast because that has CO2 footprint or some shit. The rich always guilt trip us for shit like this.

@breadandcircuses

"Use jets while you still can."

Flying only became commonplace in the 70s.
It's a blip.

It will quickly become an insignificant event on the human timeline.

@breadandcircuses Man, this is why I can't even work on run 3...
@breadandcircuses I live in the kind of town where the private jet users live. There's also a petition to stop private jet expansion at the smaller airport we share with the neighboring town(s). While I'm with the petition in spirit, it also seems like this will just keep shifting that same traffic all the way into Boston. Same emissions in the air, more emissions on the road, but now the burden is on East Boston or Chelsea instead of here. Doesn't seem right.
