I'm dming my first actual session of DnD in like three weeks on friday and in that time I've also done like three or four session 0s or re-session zeros for various reasons and the anticipation has just been building inside me to actually get behind the screen again. I also think that it's being mixed with a bit of anxiety for some random reason to the point where I just feel like I'm about to explode. I'm pretty sure this is an extreme case but does anyone else ever get the pre-session jitters?

@The_Dyer_Consequences

My partner has been GMing for 25+ years and they're the best GM I've ever played with. They get the jitters before every game. It doesn't matter if they're well-prepared -- they could probably ad-lib a decent session with zero materials. Until they're actually at the table, with folks in front of them, joking and laughing, there's gonna be nerves. It's just a sign of a great DM.

@Jilliterate something that I've mentioned somewhere else, don't remember if it was here or somewhere else on the web is that a former improv teacher of mine who I really liked said to me before a show once that "Everybody feels nervous before they go on, if you ever stop feeling nervous it's time to stop performing, because you've stopped caring what happens" and I think that kind of applies to this situation as well.

@The_Dyer_Consequences

Ooooh, that's a really good statement of reassurance, I'm gonna have to remember that one!
