Hi I'm John! I'm a DnD dungeon master, video gamer, boardgamer, wannabe novelist, part time student, podcast producer, recovering schizophrenic and a whole lot else as well! And I'm bisexual, which is nice I guess, if you're into having sex, personally I prefer rolling dice for the most part #dnd #ttrpgs

What's everybody's favourite multiclass in DnD? (pathfinder or other similar games totally cool as well)

Personally I like a good hexblade/ paladin/swords bard combo.

I'd like to submit that Total War: #warhammer 3 is actually the most realistic video game ever made (despite all the elves and magic and such), because the world is literally ending and the demons have invaded, but people are still just going around being like "that guy over there, that guy that did nothing wrong, fuck that guy, fuck that guy in particular, just because"
The Players: What's this characters name?
The DM (having written a 1000 words of backstory and mapped out the characters family tree to six degrees of separation): uh this character's name is uh well their name is unspeakable.
The players: huh?
The DM: I mean to speak their name would put a curse on your families lineage for a thousand generations
Th Players: oh wow that's such a cool plot point.
And what do you do in that situation? Like I'm sure my situation is exacerbated by the longish break and also all the session zeros just putting dnd on my mind, but dang I need to play.
I'm dming my first actual session of DnD in like three weeks on friday and in that time I've also done like three or four session 0s or re-session zeros for various reasons and the anticipation has just been building inside me to actually get behind the screen again. I also think that it's being mixed with a bit of anxiety for some random reason to the point where I just feel like I'm about to explode. I'm pretty sure this is an extreme case but does anyone else ever get the pre-session jitters?
Hello there, I know that a lot of my friends on here have designed their own ttrpgs/games more generally and I have some ideas for like simple one page ttrpgs I may want to one day push out there into the world. I have already designed a ton of monsters and stuff for DnD games but if you had to give me one piece of advice for designing my first actual game even if I just end up releasing for free/very cheap, what would that advice be?
So since I've decided to be more political on here now (I have always been very political privately) (mostly because I now really don't want to see Polievre become PM and am doing everything I can to stop him) I'm wondering, in these fraught political times how are you incorporating politics into your TTTRPG games? Or are you avoiding it to try and lift the spirits of your friends? Are you doing a mix? Couple of spirit lifting cozy games and then straight back to work fighting the fashies?
Repost if bigots are unwelcome and unsafe on your account.

Number one thing that I wish I had heard as a new DM?

And this too shall pass

(Or just as a new human being)

I'm not promising anything except that one day things will be different and I hope that we will be alright. That's all I can do right now.

Hey so I can't do anything about a bad election result in a country I don't live in but I'm scared for everyone down there, and I hope that you all keep fighting for what's right, but here's what I can do though, ask you stupid d&d questions on the internet.

So what's you're favourite D&D class to fight against the fascist plutocratic oligarchs with?
