yeh, it was pretty wild. Mind you I don't think her vid literally caused anything, but it got used as an excuse by a lot of assholes to get all mansplainily-evopsych in 'new atheism' circles. Kind of precipitated out the eugenicist crowd along with the rabid sexists.

If I remember correctly, this sparked a controversy over codes of conduct at conventions, specifically more explicit rules against sexual harassment. It was something of a schism (lol) in the secular movement back then. Richard Dawkins was on incel side of the schism too.

Yeh, my take was that it helped give permission for a lot of women to surface stories about abuse they'd experienced. One example of a positive result: An acquaintance of mine who's run a lot of cons started getting much more serious about his codes of conduct. I think he was always solid but he focused more on enforcement mechanicsms & just plain TALKED bout them more.
