In 2013, comedian Russell Brand was kicked out of a GQ magazine’s Men of the Year Awards shindig, after cracking jokes about the event’s sponsor, Hugo Boss, and its Nazi ties. As Brand put it: “If anyone knows a bit about history and fashion, you know it was Hugo Boss, who made uniforms for the Nazis. …But they looked fu*king fantastic, let’s face it, while they were killing people on the basis of their religion and sexuality“.

Who did Russell support again? Ah right 🤦

@jmcrookston @paninid It feels like it’s comedians’ job to call attention to these things.

Frankly, the #comedy scene is about to get WILD. Humor involves critiquing power dynamics, revealing authenticity, and effective storytelling. The #CreepyWeirdos are not great at any of those things. There will be a lot of forced laughter, hacks, and angry performances.

Comedian: hehe So how's everyone doing tonight? Good? Have you all heard the one about Trump and Putin?

Me neither. They're not working together at all. No connections. Hah.

(A single clap from the crowd. Someone sneezes.)
