it's interesting to see that a bunch of tech twitter has just moved to bluesky. it feels completely different there than it did 3 weeks ago.

(please do not rant at me about why you think bsky is bad)

@b0rk My only complaint is that I have yet to find a workable client. Every one I've tried insists on pushing me to the most-recent post at the slightest excuse. I want to read things in order, dammit.

I say this here mainly to ask whether you experience the same problem and if so how you've dealt with it.

@oclsc no I have the exact same problem and it bothers me too
@b0rk @oclsc Wait, are there clients besides the official iOS app? It doesn't have a proper iPad version, which is a big reason I haven't used it much.
@waltman @b0rk I'm on Android, where the same problem obtains in the official app and every other I've tried. Wish I had the spoons to fetch an open-source one and hack it.
@b0rk @oclsc The Skeets iOS app does this, kind of. I find that if you go too long between refreshes though, it just starts at the latest skeet. I think it's an underlying issue with Bluesky itself, as this long-running feature request hints at: https://github.com/bluesky-social/social-app/issues/976. This is the number one feature that kept me using TweetBot for Twitter, prior to third-party API access being gated.
Add a "don't scroll with load new" option · Issue #976 · bluesky-social/social-app

I like to pick up where i left off if I left app for a few hours. What I don't like is that the load new just auto scrolls to top, which then leaves me having to read in reverse until I "catch up" ...

@b0rk @oclsc Apparently it's a hard problem because of the protocol or API (I looked into the discussion around the bug some time ago) but they're working on it for the next major revision of the client. https://github.com/bluesky-social/social-app/issues/976 is the main issue; just scanned it and I don't see the comment about the reason but it's somewhere in incoming or outgoing links to that bug.
