Loss.jpg memes are the opposite of funny. They horrify me. They demonstrate a profound disregard for the mental health of people who’ve had miscarriages. The common defence of them being a mocking of the original cartoonist doesn’t hold sway with me.

I don’t want to hear counteropinions from people unless they have (had) a uterus or have parented a miscarried child.

@futzle I completely agree with this. Someone at work had framed this stupid meme. I mentioned to a colleague that I found it uncomfortable and she stormed off to HR and promptly got it removed. Big thanks to her for being braver than me, even though she was a new employee!

That's even worse, isn't it

@sabik I’ll reply unthreaded.
@futzle yeah, this is generally my take as well. It feels like a a 4chan/SA-esque joke laundered by the intervening years (and by its abstraction into shapes) into something seen as really harmless or even wholesome (as far as internet humor goes), but the original context is still pretty gross underneath it all.

@futzle i hate that meme every single time I see it. And the worst part is that it's become a meme to hide it in other stuff.

Almost like some kind of dog whistle. And I hate it every time it's pointed out / I spot it.
