Linux hits exactly 2% user share on the October 2024 Steam Survey

The Steam Hardware & Software Survey is out for October 2024, and the Linux user share has gone back up again to exactly 2%.

@gamingonlinux I don't understand why chinese Steam users use Windows so much.

I think if I were the Chinese government or a chinese person, using and supporting Linux would be much better than using some closed, obscure operating system from a private US company.

I don't understand why they have such overwhelming adoption of Windows, specially in that country specifically.

@antimundo @gamingonlinux last time I read about this, the explanation was that they use other apps that donโ€™t have active Linux support (WeChat, QQ), and most games they play are in Windows with kernel level anti cheat (usually free to play), like Tencent games.
@antimundo @gamingonlinux I agree. They would be the best to pressure all developers to bring their software to a chinese Linux distro
@gamingonlinux Consider showing individual regressions on the time frames before and after the Steam Deck's release, because I'm pretty sure they have very different slopes.
