@cpurdy @gtconway3 Yes, 33% voted for Hitler/NSDAP (still making it the strongest party), but another 17% voted for the communists (KPD), so that the democratic parties couldn’t form a coalition with a majority. Meaning only a minority voted for democracy.
And >50% voted for Hindenburg as president, who enabled the takeover.
