What anime has the best romance? - Reddthat

For me it’s a tie between Say I Love You and Insomniacs After School. I’ve rated other romances higher, but because of different aspects.

Insomniacs After School is an unique pick. I also enjoyed it a lot. But for me it is Toradora! or The Danger in my Heart. Both for different reasons. And an unique one for me would be Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions.
Not a series, but the movie Your Name is one of my favorite stories ever.
This is the anime I use to introduce non-anime watchers to anime. Your Name is very good.
It was the second anime I watched. Funny enough it’s been so long I barely remember a thing about it. I don’t even remember if it was good. Maybe I should rewatch it…
Your name (Kimi no Na wa). I’ve watched it three times now and every time I feel like a 12yo kid again. Waking up to life and falling through the depths of all possible emotions.
I’d say Horimiya and Wotakoi. The romance in both stories feels like it evolves organically and between realistic characters.
Came here to mention both, my job has been done!

I can’t say the best but these are what came to mind first.

Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions. A slice of life story about a few different pairings getting together. But mostly about a pair becoming more mature and dealing with trauma.

Chobits, a robot falls in love with a man, exploring the ethical and social issues with that.

Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions

Everybody has had that stage in their life where they have thought themselves to be special, different from the masses of ordinary humans. They might go as far as seeing themselves capable of wielding mystical powers, or maybe even believe themselves to have descended from a fantasy realm. This "disease" is known as "chuunibyou" and is often the source of some of the most embarrassing moments of a person's life. For Yuuta Togashi, the scars that his chuunibyou has left behind are still fresh. Having posed as the "Dark Flame Master" during his middle school years, he looks back at those times with extreme embarrassment, so much so that he decides to attend a high school far away where nobody will recognize him. Putting his dark history behind him, he longs to live a normal high school life. Unfortunately, he hasn't escaped his past yet: enter Rikka Takanashi, Yuuta's new classmate and self-declared vessel of the "Wicked Eye." As this eccentric young girl crashes into Yuuta's life, his dream of an ordinary, chuunibyou-free life quickly crumbles away. In this hilarious and heartwarming story of a boy who just wants to leave his embarrassing memories behind, the delusions of old are far from a thing of the past.

Chobits mentioned, based user spotted.
Chobits sound interesting, I’ll add it to my watch list.

Toradora!

It’s one of the few anime I rewatch at least once a year.

Boku no pico
Jokes aside, Koe no Katachi, and Kimi ni Todoke are probably my favorites.
Eureka Seven OP1 1080p (Clean)

All rights belong to their respective artists and companies. Eureka Seven's first opening, "Days" by FLOW. [EDIT- 26/09/18]: Thanks for all the views people :). Eureka Seven is a quality original production by Studio Bones and deserves the recognition this is getting for its quality even more than a decade later. I'm glad to see that people still appreciate this fantastic opening.

Primussigma | Invidious
I’m two episodes from the end right now, and once it got past the slow start this show was really excellent!

I really like A Sign of Affection:

My fave is Kaguya-Sama: Love is War

Shows

Bloom Into You His & Her Circumstances Nana Toradora Revolutionary Girl Utena Yuri On Ice

Movies

Weathering With You Your Name Only Yesterday Howl’s Moving Castle Five Centimeters Per Second

FLCL the first season

Yeaahhh yeah Rideeah ohn shooting Schtaaarr

The Pillows were the perfect soundtrack for that

My favorite romance anime is My Dress-up Darling. I could watch it on repeat.

I absolutely love Boku no kokoro yabai yatsu. Currently this has to be my favorite romcom. It starts weird but it gets so sweet by the end of season 1 you’re going to get diabetes.

Another great show I can recommend is Golden Time. It’s like Toradora but with older cast. I have to admit I enjoyed it way more than Toradora. Maybe because it was exactly my type of humor or because some situations were very realistic. Whole show is not like typical rom-com. It feels like it could happen for real.

What anime has the best romance?

Thank you for phrasing it this way, leaving room for anime that do not have romance among its genres.

For me, it’s Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury . I love the relationship between Suletta and Miorine so much.

Honourable mention goes to 86 for Lena x Shin.

I guess I like seeing couples overcome shared trauma.

Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury

A.S. (Ad Stella) 122 An era when a multitude of corporations have entered space and built a huge economic system. A lone girl from the remote planet Mercury transfers to the Asticassia School of Technology, run by the Beneritt Group which dominates the mobile suit industry. Her name is Suletta Mercury. With a scarlet light burning in her pure heart, this girl walks step by step through a new world.

Lena x Shin hits even harder because they never see each other until the very final episode. Witch from Mercury is on my watchlist so I’ll have to give it a go.

Witch from Mercury is on my watchlist so I’ll have to give it a go.

Make sure to start with the prologue / episode 0.

CLANNAD and Wotakoi probably
I really liked oregairu, clannad and toradora for the romance genre.
