Akane Banashi trailer 2 - ani.social

I thought Winter 2026 was stacked, but Spring is bringing us Witch Hat Atelier, Daemons of the Shadow Realm, and Akane Banashi? We’re being spoiled!

Btw, since it is kinda rare for companies to sell this kind of thing DRM-free I just want to give a shoutout to j-novel.club for doing so. The selection could be better, but they have Apothecary Diaries which is pretty cool. English-only though.

Are there any websites that sell light novels in Japanese in epub format? - ani.social

I recently started reading the Re:Zero light novel in Japanese. It’s freakin’ tough. The word choice is crazy sometimes (from the perspective of someone who usually only practices Japanese with manga). Part of the problem is certainly that novels just naturally use more descriptive words than manga and I’m not used to that, but even so I’m finding it tougher to read than even most seinen manga. Still, my e-reader’s built-in dictionary makes the lookups quick enough that it’s an overall enjoyable experience. Just slow. I mean, I’m 2 hours into the first volume and only 17% of the way through it! The e-reader has been indispensable for this, hence my question: “Are there any websites that sell light novels in Japanese in epub format?” Comparable formats would be fine. The important part is the ability to open the file in the koreader app and use koreader’s built-in dictionary functionality.

Man, what a chadtastic chad Taiki was today. Calling Chinatsu’s dad “father-in-law” was an incredible move. A note on that:

In the Japanese version, Taiki says “おとうさん” out loud, which simply means “father”. But it was written as “お義父さん”, which means “father-in-law”. When the text was read back as Chinatsu’s dad’s reaction it was also written as “お義父さん”, indicating that he understood it as such.

Also I’m realizing that even though the main character was living with his own dad for 173 chapters Chinatsu’s dad already feels more like a fleshed-out character. Could just be recency bias though.
