John Collinges, English Presbyterian, on the Last Judgment in Matthew 25. God notices omissions of good, like giving food to hungry, clothing to naked, etc. And what of those comissions of evil, like taking bread and throwing them into prison?

This summer a state worked prisoners in the heat. Would God be pleased with a “godly” state taking a cup of cold water from a prisoner?

How can you do something for a prisoner today?

@pteranodo where do you find all these quotes? Are you reading books? Finding them online somewhere? Are you researching old dead preachers?

@jfslicer Hi. I’m searching missionary journals, sermons, and bible commentaries. Focusing on Reformed, Puritan, Lutheran, Pres, but include Methodist, Baptist missionaries or abolitionists with awesome stories.

I focus on public domain (<1923), internet-available books, as if to increase the shame that we aren’t being taught this. And to give freedom to copy at will. If one has a half-dozen search terms in mind, it’s very easy to find sections in these books with rich material.

@pteranodo I like what you've been coming up with! How are you finding these? I know google has a book searching tool... are you using that or something else to find these quotes?
@jfslicer Only just saw this. Archive.org lets you see a full text view or download it. Searching for words like Lazarus, slave, neighbor, needy, hungry, suffer, etc…..
@pteranodo thanks! Looking forward to trying it out!
