The problem with Apple's Notes app gaining so many great frontend features, from voice memos to Pencil sketching, is that I don't want all my different kinds of notes stored in the same place, with the same weight šŸ˜…

I want my recipes separate from my painting journal, my text scratch pad, my birthday presents lists, etc.

I wish iOS had an idiom for that that didn’t amount to 'use separate apps’

@stroughtonsmith Related - Apple Notes should support Focus filters
@stroughtonsmith Would be ideal if any "database-type" app could have more than one instance, with a separate app icon on the homescreen e.g. Photos, Notes, Journal, Freeform and the same for 3rd party apps
@stroughtonsmith Focus filters or tags would be great, but Notes does have folders so your request is already fulfilled.

@stroughtonsmith I use a shared folder for recipes in Notes. Then I made a shortcut which opens that folder and added an app icon for it. Now I’m one tap to open my recipes from the home screen.

I also have an app icon for my shopping list in Reminders.

@dct @stroughtonsmith I’m going to copy this.
@dct @stroughtonsmith Feedback: I did copy this & I am loving it!
@dct
While this is a great suggestion in itself and makes those lists/notes almost feel like their own app, one of Appleā€˜s decisions unfortunately makes it not as good as it could be.
Both, Notes and Reminders had searches within individual lists/notes.
Now there is only a global one in each app.
@stroughtonsmith You could call them, I dunno, "folders" or "directories".

@stroughtonsmith

I already use them for everything :)

Now, the onlybissue I have is the insane sorting (is it based on recency? no one knows)

@stroughtonsmith something like Obsidian vaults would be great. Same feature set but different taxonomy and views.

@stroughtonsmith I’ve recently started using http://MyForeverNotes.com

It’s a much better method of organising your Notes.

@stroughtonsmith yes, I hate the discourse around people trying to move from 1Password to Passwords (myself included) being told ā€œfor all of the stuff that you used to keep in 1Password that doesn’t fit into Passwords _very_ narrow and specific fields, just use secure Notes!ā€

No… if I wanted to store my structured data in an unstructured Note, I wouldn’t be using 1Password to begin with
