I strongly object to anybody- right or left, of whatever race or ethnicity - using the effort to encourage women to vote their consciences to drive a wedge between white women and women of color. Women of all races live in a patriarchal society and many subordinate themselves to the desires and commands of their male partners. 1/
The circumstances and forms of domestic coercion and violence vary widely. But very few, if any, women have escaped pressure from fathers, boyfriends, and spouses to do as these men instruct. To encourage women in households where the men expect them to vote for Trump is not suddenly to be worried only or especially about white women. 2/
Recognizing the reality that almost every woman in an intimate or familial relationship with a man is likely to be exposed and vulnerable to unethical, politically charged pressure and demands from that man is to recognize that patriarchy is systemic and entrenched. Women of all races, ethnicities, and backgrounds should and must stand together to fight that patriarchy, ideally with awareness of how circumstances of race, income, religion, and gender intersect the lives of diffferent women. 3/
