I recently went heavy on Ikea 365+ food containers because formats are constrained to prevent any lid-matching ambiguity.

Plastic, bamboo, and silicone lids interoperate with glass, plastic, and stainless steel containers with different heights but the same footprint!

(Yes, you can buy the components as separates!)

@Miniver Appreciate the heads-up. We went heavily into thin-walled glass storage bowls, with a sort of backup set of heavy water glasses with lids. But the time may be soon for us to restock.

Bowl shaped failure curve like electronics, too. Some glass breakage early, now the plastic lids are starting to split at the rim.
