📖 The Browser Company is surprised more people don’t use Arc? Is it possible they weren’t solving a problem people actually had? How many companies are doing that these days? Even Apple?

Edit: Do you like Arc? Neat! I’m glad you like it. But this post is not about why some people like it. It’s why most people won’t bother.

Nothing Left to Solve

@louie great post. I tried Arc a few times and every time I find myself just getting distracted by the UI. For me, its bells and whistles don’t provide enough value over a simpler browser.

@lee I think they’d probably tell you their approach is simpler, but it’s hard to make that argument when we’re accustomed to a different paradigm.

Novel UI can be cool and I know it works for some people to just have something that feels different! That’s fun! But I think browsers need to be full-featured if they are going to have mass appeal, and they cannot be too gimmicky. Arc “fails” in this way, but to some, those things are its strength. They just can’t expect everyone to appreciate it.
