I can't say I like the redesign of the Canada Weather app. Information density is down. Contrast is down.

I really don't like the new design of the WeatherCan app. There are plenty of other weather apps out there but I want the old WeatherCan app back!

Environment Canada shares all the raw data in a nice XML file. So I quickly hacked together a proof of concept in #SwiftUI that looks exactly like the old one. Would anyone be interested in joining forces to create an #opensource #iOS app with the look and feel of the old WeatherCan app?

@hannorein good luck getting it on the apple store. The bar is so high now for getting anything up there you need a team of developers and quite likely a lawyer to do it. Someone I knew gave up on getting an academic app (for teaching) for iOS or Android because the requirements changed so many times over just a single month, so it was an impossible to hit target.
@DrPlanktonguy Huh? I never had an issue with any of my apps?
@hannorein are they recent? This seems to be changes in the last year+, in part, supposedly to control malware, but friends of ours who work in tech industry here in Waterloo have also said their app teams have had their work requirements massively expanded. Basically, you have to be professional developers to keep up with the mandated and constant changes in requirements for either Play Store or App Store.
@DrPlanktonguy Hm, I've submitted many this year and every single submission went through the first time. 🤷‍♂️
