Am sure none of you are surprised by my views of WaPo and LA Times. Most of you no doubt agree with me. The owners of those papers have damaged democracy. A free press was supposed to be the fourth branch of government

So boycott WaPo & LA Times and their owners incl Bezos and his Amazon empire

@tomiahonen Rebuild a NEW Fourth Branch. Leave the billionaires behind and focus on local and regional news sources. And get Sinclair OUT of his monopoly in the hyper-local sources.
@tomiahonen In my opinion we shouldn’t blame the journalists of the WaPo who are not responsible for the decision of the owner.
Boycott only Amazon instead.
I pretend to keep my subscription.
@tomiahonen as a foreigner (caliphate of Scotland), I subscribe to the WaPo and Al Jazeera for news from overseas (Guardian and BBC for domestic). None are perfect. What would be a decent alternative to the Bezos comic as a US source?
@k_ginty LOL what a great question, Andrew, and SRSLY I had not thought about that. It used to be that the NY Times and Washington Post were the two best newspapers published in the USA for thorough and fair coverage of news. But first NY Times went maga, now WaPo has suddenly done that too. I can't suggest a pretend newspaper like USA Today could be it (and they have a traditional conservative balance, so think of them like Daily Mail of USA)....
@k_ginty BUT for pretty good newspaper (title) on fair and reasonably thorough coverage of news, published in the USA, worth your while, is the Philadelphia Inquirer. You might try that. Spoken as a foregner from the caliphate of Finland
@tomiahonen
Thanks, mate, I'll give it a shot. Feckin' meeja, all in the pockets of the roly-poly-oligarchs.
