Did you know that #Scotland has rainforests?
This week I visited the Cowal Peninsula on the west coast to see one of the last few remaining temperate #rainforests, Glenan Wood.
This 146-hectare, community-owned oakwood at Portavadie, on the shores of Loch Fyne, is rich in lichens, mosses and worts due to the mild, wet weather coming in off the Atlantic.
It's a beautiful, important place. Some links:

@stevenlawson greetings from Rothesay. We’re planning a visit now. Thanks for sharing this wonderful information 😺
@vasyasovari You're welcome and I hope you enjoy your time in this amazing place. I was stood in the small car park reading an information board on seabirds and a dragonfly landed on it. It was a good sign!

@stevenlawson

It makes me glad, to know such places still exist - and may God bless the people who preserve them.

@stevenlawson rain? Yes. Forests? Yes. Rainforests? No! Interesting read πŸ‘
@stevenlawson I would highly recommend reading The Lost Rainforests of Britain by Guy Shrubsole as the author is very enthusiastic in their knowledge and description of this subject of temperate rainforests
@Wigwam12 A friend in my conservation group is lending me his copy, I'm looking forward to reading it. Thanks.
@stevenlawson we had a lovely time on that peninsula at this time of year a few years ago - a good place to visit after rain. (This was Puck's Glen on the other side of the peninsula.)
