I love the expression “for the time being” because I always read it in my head as “in servitude to the deity of chronology”
@luna My brain is convinced there was an episode of Rugrats where Tommy misunderstands Cynthia saying "for the time being" and asks, "Is it in here with us? The Time Being?" But all evidence suggests otherwise. I wish I knew where that was from.
@luna second only to the typo. when your place of employment "hopes you are looking after your well being"
@ajft @luna Absolutely. There are days when I have to sit on the lid to make sure it doesn’t climb up the bucket chain and escape.
@crowbriarhexe @luna must be a relative of this one I doodled during a work meeting four years ago https://flic.kr/p/2jYuYxq

@luna and now I always will too, thank you for spreading this curse 😭🤣
@luna Friends of my wife's were once in need of temporary accommodation. I promise you that they were told they would be given a flat in Greenwich House "for the mean time"
@luna
time deity? I haven't heard of the time deity in aeons.
@luna Then you may enjoy Annie Dillard's book of the same name.
@luna i say this all the time how has this never occurred to me
@luna We've taken to adding a parenthetical "(all hail the time being!)" when using the expression
@luna I wish the deity of chronology grands @smolcasm the times she desires
