For 20 years, I have offered free downloads of icons I’ve made. I’ve given away countless icons and wallpapers over the years, just because I feel like it’s fun to make them and give them out like candy.

That anyone feels entitled to tell me that I didn’t draw an icon to *their* specifications... it really gets to me. People who I’ve never known come to drop a dookie on my doorstep, leaving me to clean it up. Just for someone else to come along and say I’m a jerk for doing so. When does it end?

@louie I’ll try to balance it out by saying thanks for your wallpapers I’ve used over the years. They’ve brought me joy and I appreciate that.

@louie I'm very sorry you've been treated badly here for trying to do some good deeds in this world.

For every one jerk I'm sure there are thousands that appreciate your work.

@louie I just wanted to tell you that I feel your pain. We work in different fields (I do translations and software localisation), and in recent years the situation has somewhat improved for me. But I spent several years being constantly second-guessed by clients and prospective clients who not only did tell me how I should do my work, they also told me how much I should charge. Funny that they never say that to lawyers, doctors, plumbers and other professionals. It’s disheartening.
@louie I look at your site, your portfolio, your projects, and it’s absolutely transparent to me that you know your stuff and have incredible experience. The sad thing of today’s online interactions is that almost nobody sees beyond their nose. Nobody seems willing to make the effort to do a modicum of homework, and say to themselves: “Wait, let’s have a look at this person’s credential before talking shit to them”. To quote the great Ani DiFranco, “Everyone’s a fucking Napoleon”.
@louie I also want to thank you for everything you’ve shared for free over the years. Here’s a fun fact. This is a screenshot of my 12-inch PowerBook G4’s desktop taken in 2010. That PowerBook still works to this day, and still sports this wallpaper to this day (it’s actually in rotation together with the others you released at the time that feature different colours and patterns). Keep up the good work, I know you will!
@louie just want to point out that I believe there’s still TONS of people like me who have enjoyed your beautiful icons and wallpapers all these years from way back in the macthemes2 days! Much love and respect dude!
