I hope everyone is paying attention to United States v. Skrmetti. It's a case being heard this term about Tennessee’s gender affirming care ban.

In one of the amicus briefs filed last week opposing gender affirming care for trans kids there was just a list of bible verses.

The brief was filed by 23 state legislatures and some other jamokes.

And it's not even clear which version of the Bible they're talking about. Is it KJV, ESV, RSV, NIV, NLT, or perhaps the NWT, or something else like the Trump Bible? You have to cite your sources correctly!

Genesis 1:27; Galatians 6:7; Matthew 22:37-40; Philippians 2:3-4; John 14:15; Genesis 3:5; Genesis 4:6-7; Proverbs 22:15; Galatians 5:19-24; Romans 13:1-5.

Anyone else notice these aren't in order? I'm thinking the order matters to their argument.

Seems to me at least the first three are a pretty boring stab at ‘God didn't mention non-binary/trans, and God is in charge, so there’

Kinda ironic they wound up quoting ‘love thy neighbour as thyself’ in the process, they seem somewhat less interested in that of course

the refrain I've seen on a lot of the churches affiliated with these kinds of law firms is that separation of church and state is about "the state keeping out of church business" so there's an active effort to twist it

@Jennifer @AngryBlackLady Alabama (Birmingham area anyway) feels similar to how it was when we lived here in the 90s, but the incompetence and laziness of our elected officials is probably more responsible for that than anything else.

@AngryBlackLady Every trans person in America is terrified right now, and the fact that SCOTUS is even entertaining this case is just one of the many reasons why. Children’s healthcare is only the entry point, not the end goal — if they succeed they’re coming after us adults next, followed by the LGBTQ+ community at large. Every single thing they’re doing WRT trans people is designed to erase us from society.

Speaking of the Bible and Galatians:

"The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love." (Galatians 5:6 NIV)

"Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers." (Galatians 6:10 NIV)

What these daemonic politicians don't know is that we are taught to love and care for each other, and that also includes gender-affirming healthcare. It's literally in the Bible!
