The @internetarchive’s Wayback Machine resumed in a provisional, read-only manner.

Sorry, no Save Page Now yet.

Safe to resume but might need further maintenance, in which case it will be suspended again.

Please be gentle https://web.archive.org

More as it happens.

@brewsterkahle @internetarchive Thanks for the update, can’t imagine the stress you’re all under right now. #hugops

Think it’s time to bump up the amount I’m donating each month.

@brewsterkahle @internetarchive thank you to the entire team! Rockstars!

I'm intrigued by the notion of a Wayback Machine that would NOT be read-only. If you have the ability to go back in time and change things, can't you just rewrite the part of history where this fiasco happened? :)

Anyway, thanks to all for the effort put in. I also hereby renew my call to put a Donate button on the archive.org interim landing page.

@kentpitman @brewsterkahle

It appears they're just not accepting requests to archive pages not already archived, making it read-only.

@roens @brewsterkahle

Not as fun as my interpretation, but far more likely. :)

In any case, they added a donate option archive.org, which is nice.

@brewsterkahle @internetarchive Thank you so much. Just in time for the start of my class on Internet and Web History ;-) We can be glad that you keep this up!
@brewsterkahle @internetarchive interesting way to learn that it was down
@brewsterkahle @internetarchive I don't know how you do it Brewster, but I'm mighty grateful that you do. It's amazing how vicious the publishing moguls can be - you've obviously hit a nerve by trying to work against their hegemony.
@brewsterkahle @internetarchive Awesome work, thank you! May it stay alive.

@brewsterkahle

Sir, thank you for this service it's been life changing. The fact that these big companies want to take it down, just means they're pissed they can't nickel and dime us for everything we have even those of us who never had a chance at possessing some of the things that are so lovingly stored here. It's disgusting that they can't just be satisfied with the BILLIONS of dollars these books have likely made them. It just makes you ashamed that you are even from the same species

@brewsterkahle @internetarchive when you are ready to hire some infosec/cyber security folks, let me know or let's connect at #EFM again
@InternetArchive. I am Willis James. I just tried to get inside the archive.org. But I can't get in here. I am sorry. I can't get in it. So I stay away from the website. I will get inside the archive soon or next year in 2025.
