Today is the day! I am very pleased to release my latest analysis on the US presidential election and its relation to Ukraine.

The election is packed with election promises, but can the candidates deliver? In this episode I investigate Trump's promise to end the Ukraine war — because can he?

Please boost this to help me put some hard facts on the table in an election riddled with disinformation.

Can Trump end the Ukraine war?

YouTube
@randahl Sorry, I am not going to spend time watching a video. I prefer reading - for many reasons. Trump cannot end the Ukraine war - but he can (and would given the chance) make matters worse by reducing aid to Ukraine. In fact that is almost certainly what he would do if elected. He will do whatever Putin tells him to do.
Thank you @Randahl Fink It is an excellent analysis of the current circumstances. I share many of your views. However, I'm not sure about one question, whether the US may have played a bigger part in supporting Ukraine after all?

@markus I answer that question in this earlier video called "For as long as it takes":

@randahl

I invoke Betteridges Law.

There is no reason for European countries(especially those close to the war) to respect any deal brokered by the US, Trump or not.
They will not allow the Russians to gain a win which brings Russian troops closer to their borders.
Post ww2 pax Americana is collapsing.
@randahl great video, well done 😀#trump
@muzicofiel thanks René! I am glad you liked it — it was very interesting to research for this video.
@randahl The answer is very short: no.
@randahl Great job as usual. Your reportages are always enlightening and welcome! 👍
@randal_silversword thank you for watching, Randal.
@randahl just finished watching your new video. I wish there would be more news coverage this way. Well spoken, no sensationalism, to the point, great comparisons and entertaining. Great work Randahl! Thanks for searching the truth.

@kikeriffs Awesome! I am really glad you liked it.

It was so interesting researching for this one, and I really enjoyed producing it as well, because I got a much better understanding of some of the great features of my video editing software (Davinci Resolve).

@randahl that was my following question, on what you used for video editing. Kudos for the patience… i am a nerd for computers and i can produce demos for my music, but video editing is along my biggest nemesis…

Did you do any courses? Or just went with the flow?

@kikeriffs I learned everything I know about Davinci Resolve from watching countless YouTube videos.

If you are used to a DAW like Logic, working in Davinci Resolve will not feel all that different.

@randahl

Great analysis.

@BuckRogers1965 thank you Buck. Hope you subscribed because more videos are coming.

@randahl

Mentioning the voter turnout in Uruguay without the fact that voting is mandatory doesn't sound reasonable.

@jesuisatire I agree with your criticism.

In the first version of this script I actually had a long section about the 15 countries which have compulsory voting systems.

However, in each editing process I have to make some hard choices to keep focus on the key points. This time I chose to leave out these details for the sake of brevity. And I do not consider that misleading, because even if you remove the compulsory voting countries, the US still has very low voter participation.

@randahl

You could have compared only compulsory systems. Comparing apples with oranges at the beginning taints your whole take from the get go. I actually stopped watching because "if it starts like this, I'd be a fool to keep on watching."
Kinda same goes for comparisons of presidential and parliamentary democracies. Or the use of the word "socialism" in the US and europe.

.. you as a citizen of socialist Denmark knows that I guess ..

Also true, voter turnout does decide the election in countries like the US. Actually it changed latest local elections in germany (Turinga, Saxonia, Brandenburg) as former disenchanted voters went to the ballot and voted mostly far right.

The point is the evolution of voter turn out when it comes to the strength of democracy itself. And that's the interesting point.

btw
Uruguayans learned thru the hard way of dictatorship how precious democracy is.
