Cars bricked by bankrupt EV company will stay bricked: "Software-based car" is a warning, not a slogan.

Attached: 1 image There are few phrases in the modern lexicon more accursed than "software-based car," and yet, this is how the failed EV maker Fisker billed its products, which retailed for $40-70k in the few short years before the company collapsed, shut down its servers, and degraded all those "software-based cars": https://insideevs.com/news/723669/fisker-inc-bankruptcy-chapter-11-official/ 1/

@pluralistic well you can rent a printer through HP and not own the ability to print, and you can buy a license to view and move your show but not own copies of that movie or show. Why should cars get out of this without jumping on the profit train?

It would not surprise me if there were a million bricked Teslas in 5 years.

Hurricane Helene Just Made the Case for Electric Trucks

More than 1 million Americans are still without electricity. EV owners are using their cars to keep the lights on.

@Npars01 @Jeanniewarner @pluralistic my EV6 does a decent job of providing some lights, hot water, hot food, and a working fridge for days. And I can find my “generator” to any available charger if I need a refill. And works great when cell service ifs out.
@Npars01 @Jeanniewarner @pluralistic Some EVs do not require a cell connection to operate, although they do have some connected features.
