Ah yes: the old #ColumbiaHouse mail-order record club. Sure, it enabled me to get that Grand Funk album I'd been hankering for since first hearing "We're An American Band". But then . . . I'd have to buy a bunch of lesser, rando picks (maybe The Guess Who? or BTO? Perhaps a later Sweet rec?) - paying full list price for the privilege. I'd come up short every time.

@mrowster CRC was the first music subscription service then, right? I don't think there was anything like it prior.

I can recall trying to find music I actually liked too lol. And one issue I always had with CRC albums was sound quality. Sometimes the CRC version was like a copy of a copy.

@Defiance Haha - well it certainly was tougher to re-sell records with the Columbia House logo on them. In retrospect I see how this advertising was totally targeting us little kids - those stamps were terribly fun to tear up, lick, and stick on things.
