I can confirm that the 54 year old #Soundhog #cassettes recorded and played back perfectly.

Such a resilient format.

Vinyl records have had a resurgence in popularity in the past 10-15 years, but *cassettes* are the brand-new-nostalgia... probably in no small part due to "Stranger Things" and similar pop culture throwbacks?

CDs are slowly coming back around as well. Most independent record stores and artists still release new music on them.

Physical mediums for music overall are becoming more valuable for fans.. Are standalone MP3/music players next?

Following our spotlight yesterday on an album of field recordings from under the sea, here’s an album featuring field recordings from where the people are, up where they walk, up where they run, up where they stay all day in the sun, wanderin’ free…

I can’t find much information on this artist (and apparently that’s by design), but Ironic Hill is an anonymous middle-aged man somewhere in the UK, feeling his feelings through relatively frequent releases of beautiful nature-filled lo-fi folk captured via mostly outdoor DIY tape recordings, available only on limited runs of home-dubbed cassettes or digitally. On this one, you’ll hear birds, heartfelt piano, intimate guitar strumming, life, the sounds of someone trying to capture a peaceful, simple moment.
