Here is the 3rd Annual Edward John Coyle Jr. Memorial Tournament field. Tourney begins Thursday October 3rd on what would be my dad's 73rd birthday. Some teams of note. 1951 Giants, Bobby Thompson's famous HR falls on the exact birthday of my dad. The Giants are in the tournament every year.

Last year's winner the 1951 Dodgers are back as are the runner-up 1975 Boston Red Sox. Dave Winfield is in every tournament as he shares my dad's birthday. Dave had his last hurrah on the 1995 Indians squad.

Kind of sad to see Plesac’s numbers, he’s a sentimental fave.

He had personality. One game when he was with the Jays he snuck away from the bullpen and put on a groundskeeper uniform. During the 5th inning smoothing of the infield dirt he took the first base cutout/patch (this was of the time when the Skydome had astroturf).

All the while, Plesac is chatting with Otis Nixon, trying to distract him from the infield warm-up.

Plesac left with the grounds crew and then snuck back to the bullpen.

After the inning, Nixon comes back to the dugout, kind of astonished: “We’ve got a groundskeeper who looks just like Plesac!”
