Had to research Freeman, wondering why he doesn’t play for the NAG’s. (He played for Hoserland in the WBC).
Turns out that, though he does have Hoserian ancestry, through an accident of birth his first appearance as a humanoid was in California.
So if the Padres franchise ever folds, the NAG’s have a claim to him.

Kind of sad to see Plesac’s numbers, he’s a sentimental fave.
He had personality. One game when he was with the Jays he snuck away from the bullpen and put on a groundskeeper uniform. During the 5th inning smoothing of the infield dirt he took the first base cutout/patch (this was of the time when the Skydome had astroturf).
All the while, Plesac is chatting with Otis Nixon, trying to distract him from the infield warm-up.
Plesac left with the grounds crew and then snuck back to the bullpen.
After the inning, Nixon comes back to the dugout, kind of astonished: “We’ve got a groundskeeper who looks just like Plesac!”

When I saw Maddux with the W, I just kind of shrugged because… Maddux.
